As a professional braider the hardest thing I felt I had to deal with was finding quality products. And braiding gel was very much on the top of that list. Pink Luster’s, Blue Magic, and Shine-N-Jam have always been my go-to products. Yet, because I stay out in the middle of nowhere, sometimes those products are not readily available to me.
There was a day where I had a client coming in the morning. I was completely out of Shine-N-Jam. I had to get some ASAP. Problem was there was none at the stores near me either. So, I had to drive over an hour away to get to another store that was also out of Shine-N-Jam. But, they had other braiding gels to offer. So, I started reading ingredients and looking up reviews for the products. I then came across Pardon My Fro. And I just had to try it. So let’s get into who Pardon My Fro is and my experience with their braiding gel.
Who Is Pardon My Fro!
Pardon My Fro was founded by Dana Bly. She created this brand in 2010 to help women who are proud of their natural hair. Like most natural hair product line creators, she started her line because of her own hair struggles. Her line of hair products focuses on the moisture and hydration our curls need to be vibrant, healthy, and defined. Each product was made with us curly haired women and men in mind. And did I mention that these products attack dryness and frizz. Which for me as a professional and consumer is a plus.
Where Can You Buy?
So, I did the research for you on where you can buy this braiding gel. Below is that list with prices:
- Pardon My Fro website. Their website has all of their products as well as hair bundles that you can buy. On the website the braiding gel is priced at $13.50. You get 16 ounces. www.pardonmyfro.com
- Walmart. You can buy any and everything at Walmart. But, you can NOT buy the bundle packs there. The cost for the 16 ounces of braiding gel is $12.97. You can get this in store or order it off their website.
There are other places that you can buy Pardon My Fro products like: Target and Sally’s. The problem with this is that they do no sell the braiding gel. Remember, if you go to Sally’s, and you are a professional, you can get a discount. Use your license or certificate number from your state board.
My Review
Okay so let’s get to the reason you really came. MY REVIEW! This product overall exceeded my expectations. I tried it on not only myself but the client whom I mentioned in the beginning. I asked her for her feedback as well, but we will get into that a little later.
Where do I even began is the question.
I actually bought mine from Walmart. It was located at eye level and the bright green containers are incredibly eye-catching. The green stood out because how many hair products you know that are green. I’m just saying, great marketing idea. The fact that you thought outside of the box matters. The green basically sales the product, because I honestly bought it at first because of that reason.
Now once I got home the first thing I did was open it. I wanted to see the actual product. I was wondering was the container filled to the top. The answer is yes by the way. It was filled to the rim. Oh and it is clear!
The next thing I did was smell it. Now don’t judge me, but I do not want to put anything in my hair that does not smell good. But, this smelled great!
Now when I actually applied it to the hair my biggest concern was if it would hold. It was easy to place on to the hair and glided easily. The was no sticky residue after applying. Yet, the hair will stick to your fingers, but isn’t that all braiding gel? Or is that just me?
After I accomplished the hairstyle we were achieving for that appointment. The look came out very sleek and my client was happy about the results. Picture located below:

My Clients Review
I asked my clients for their reviews on Pardon My Fro. Collectively, they all wanted me to switch to this gel for many reasons. They mainly chose it because it did not leave a white residue on their hair. They also felt that the hold was really good and their braids actually lasted longer than they normally would.
One client said that there was not a thing that she would change about the product. She also stated that once she washed her hair afterwards her hair felt soft and hydrated. She has also requested that we try more of the line for her hair. She wants to see how her hair will react to the other products in the line. So make sure you come back for the review on the other products in the line.
Conclusion
Well that is all for this week! Make sure you guys go out and try this product and let us know what you think. Maybe we can share you review the next time. Until next week!
